key words: track and field,judgment,judges The level of the theoretical knowledge of the athletics judges is determined by the means of new test method. The results are analysed corresponding to the judges age, their way of preparation and the expert judgment of their pracitcal skills to apply the rules. The conclusion recommends an extension of the education forms and increasing the qualificationof the judges by accenting on the activity of the judges in the process of mastering the theoretical material.
