Keywords: hammer throwers, phisical abilities The experience of one of the worlds best hammer throwers, Ivan Tanev (PB 82,04m), has been presented. The change of his physical abilities in the period when his personal best rises from 69,0 to 82,04m has been studied. The changes of 10 indexes of his physical development is followed. Abilities as for periodic control of the physical development as weel as a model characteristics of the last in a qualification aspect are given for the needs of the sports practice.
