The achievements in the decathlon in the last six World Championships in the period 1997-2007 of the first six competitors, divided by event groups -running, jumps, throws, has been analyzed. The tendencies of the changes of the results in the different events have been revealed. A tendency has been proven, that in an year before Olympic games, the results in the world elite are generally higher and more compact.
